Services for Charles R. Elder, 44, will be held at 2:30 Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich funeral home. Rev. Marvin Ceynor will officiate, and interment will be at the Nichols cemetery.

The son of Charles W. and Frances Kirchner, Elder, he was born May 17, 1921, at Nichols.

He was married Oct 20, 1946, at Spangler chapel, to Shirley Shield.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Nichols, Zarephath consistory, Kaaba Temple Shrine, and the Lone Tree American Legion post. He was a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Shirley Elder of Nichols; a son Randall Robert Elder, and a daughter, Barbara Ann Elder, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Maynard Vaupel of Muscatine, Mrs. George Poelter of Nichols, Mrs. Roy Bieri of Nichols and Mrs. George Grable of Nichols; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Elder of Muscatine; and a son by a former marriage, Charles DeWayne McKean of Peoria, Ill.
