Funeral Rites - Mrs. Soltwedel

Funeral rites for Mrs. Katherine Soltwedel will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home by the Rev. David M. Funk, pastor of Grace Lutheran church. Interment will be in Oakhill cemetery at Cedar Rapids (Linn Co., IA).

Mrs. Soltwedel’s death occurred at 8:50 a.m. Monday at her home, 141 Sherman street, following an illness of five days. She was born in Muscatine on Sept. 2, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cossman. She had made Muscatine her home for 70 years. She married Henry Custer and after his death, married J. H. Soltwedel on March 12, 1919 in Muscatine. She was a member of Grace Lutheran church and of the Royal Neighbors lodge.

Surviving are her husband; one son Feldon Custer, Rockford, Ill. Four step-sons, Ray, Otto and Ernest Soltwedel, Muscatine, and Vernon Soltwedel, of the U. S. military service; three daughters, Mrs. Clark Abbott, Boone, IA., Mrs. Robert Twining, Chicago, and Mrs. Gerald Tucker, Oak Park, Ill,; one step-daughter, Mrs. Wilma Curry, Muscatine, one brother Joe Cossman, Oconomowac, Wis.; one sister, Mayme Mahurin; four step-grand children and two great grandchildren. Proceeding her in death were two sons, her first husband, one brother, her parents and a step-daughter.
