L. K. Maxson, 73, retired West Liberty farmer died Aug. 22 in Mercy hospital in Iowa City, where he had been a patient for a week. He had suffered a stroke.

He was born June 29, 1889 in Springdale the son of Kirts and Anna Maxson. He was married to Efra Madsen Nov. 2, 1915 in Iowa City.

Mr. Maxson farmed near Columbus Junction about 8 years. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah lodges in West Liberty.

Survivors, besides his widow, include 2 sons, Harvey, Filer, Idaho; Vernon, Moline, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn McGowan, West Liberty; 2 brothers, Floyd, Iowa City and Chesley, Atalissa, a sister, Mrs. William Sanger, Iowa City and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 half-sisters and 2 half-brothers. Funeral services were held Aug. 24 at West Liberty with burial in the Oakridge cemetery.
