From the Muscatine Journal and news Tribune Wednesday December 21, 1949
Edward J. Bierman, aged 54 years, of 605 1/2 East Sixth street, died suddenly of a heart ailment at New Boston, Ill., at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was an employe of the Corhan Construction Co. of Des Moines.
Mr. Bierman, the son of Dietrich and Rebecca Lemkau Bierman, was born in Muscatine on Oct. 30, 1895, spending his entire life here. He married Mary Campbell on Jan. 20, 1917 in Muscatine. He was a member of the former Batter C organization and served on the Mexican border.
Surviving are his wife, one son, Virgil E. Bierman; one daughter, Mrs. Norman Schoenig; three brothers, William, George and Fred Bierman and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Massey and Mrs. Elizabeth Kopf, all of Muscatine. Five grandchildren also survive. his parents, two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter preceded him in death.
The body is at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home and services will be held there at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
