Don E. Showalter, 50, died suddenly at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at his farm home north of Wilton Junction.

The son of Ed and Ruth Doxstader Showalter, he was born Aug. 19, 1912, in Illinois. He had been a Wilton Junction area resident for the past 30 years, formerly living at Columbus Junction.

He was married Oct. 14, 1936, at Muscatine, to Elnora Duffe.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Elnora Showalter; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Donna Jean) Wagner, Moscow; a brother, Eddie Showalter, Glen Allen, Ill.; 4 sisters, Mrs. Roy (Helen) Hinkhouse, Wilton Junction; Mrs. Gwin (Mae) Taylor, Moline; Mrs. Robert (Jane) Drumm and Mrs. Burdette (Joyce) Cozad, both of Muscatine; 5 grandchildren, and his father, Ed Showalter of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother.

The Rev. Joseph Mayer conducted funeral services Jan. 7 at Wilton Junction. Interment was at Oakdale cemetery.
