9 February 1961 - The Tipton Conservative

Ernest I. Darting, 73, retired truck driver and service station operator, died Jan. 27 at his home, in Wilton Junction, after an extended illness.

He was born March 25, 1887 at Brazil, Ind., a son of William and Lillian Belk Darting. He had lived in Wilton Junction for 37 years. He married Maybelle Pace Dec. 14, 1910, at Muscatine. Mr. Darting was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ernie Leigh of Wilton Junction; 5 daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ida Mae) Lester, Wilton Junction; Mrs. L. M. (Loraine) Henderson, Aledo, Ill.; Mrs. John A. (Arlene) Christensen, Wilton Junction; Mrs. L. M. (Loraine) Henderhurst, Manchester; and Mrs. Stanley (Donna) Rynott, Moline, Ill.; 3 brothers, Arthur, Summerville, S. C.; Frank Darting, Wilton Junction, and Carl Darting, Muscatine; 4 sisters, Mrs. Ella Love, Brazil, Ind.; Mrs. Louis Martin, Tipton; Mrs. D. V. Smull, Wilton Junction, and Mrs. Mazo Hestord, Muscatine. There are 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a daughter.

Funeral services were Jan. 30 at Wilton Junction. The Rev. Robert G. Farr was in charge. Burial was at Harker cemetery.
