31 March 1960 - The Tipton Conservative

Elmer Conklin, 69, died at his home at West Liberty March 21. He had returned just a few days before from a winter vacation in Tempe, Ariz.

Mr. Conklin was born near West Liberty, Feb. 8, 1891, the son of William D. and Bertha Marolf Conklin, and was married to Pearl Osborn, March 22, 1920, at Tipton.

He was a member of the Christian church, the Moose lodge at Muscatine, and the American Legion at West Liberty. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his widow; 5 sons, Lester, West Liberty; Roy, Huntsville, Mo.; Lewis, of Moline, Ill.; William, Tempe, Ariz., and Vernon, Hamilton air base in California; 3 daughters, Mrs. Bertha Brayton, Grand Junction, Colo.; Mrs. Wilma Wymer, Muscatine, and Mrs. Joan Blodget, Davenport; 3 sisters, Mrs. Anna Nauman of West Liberty; Mrs. Minnie Herring, Williamsburg, and Connie Conklin of Las Vegas, Neb., and 23 grandchildren.

One sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held March 24 with the Rev. David Shaeffer officiating. Burial was in Oakridge cemetery.
