RESIDENT OF THIS CITY FOR A HALF CENTURY.
Mrs. Johanna Stemerdink, Aged Resident of This City Is Called By Death After a Brief Illness.
After an illness of only two weeks Mrs. Johanna Stemerdink, a resident of this city for more than fifty years, passed away at her home, 1053 Lucas street, at 9:30 o’clock last evening. Mrs. Stemerdink was born in Winterswyk, Holland, January 15th, 1831, and had she lived until Thursday of the coming week would have attained the age of 83 years.
She came to this country with her parents in 1854 and was united in marriage in 1856 to J. H. Stemerdink in this city. One son Herman Stemerdink survives her. She is also survived by one brother, J. W. Nyenhuis and two sisters, Mrs. Dora Schoemaker of this city and Miss Gertrude Heezen of Holland.
