SILAS ELI JENNINGS

Silas Eli Jennings, 87, formerly of 1612 Hershey Ave., Muscatine, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 11:45 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant following an illness of several months.
Born Dec. 5, 1878, at Woodland, Mr. Jennings was the son of George C. and Phoebe Breese Jennings.
He was a farmer in the Nichols and Wapello area.
Mr. Jennings married Rosa B. Fuller who survives him.
In addition to his wife who resides at Davenport, Mr. Jennings is survived by four sons: Charles P., Muscatine; Ernest C., Davenport; Averild, Carson City, Nev.; and Clarence in the U.S. Navy in California. Also five daughters: Rosamond, Cedar Rapids; Pearline, Dallas, Tex.; Pauline, Rock Island; Marilyn and Joyce, California. A brother, Grover, of Wapello also survives as do 40 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were five sons, one brother and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 14 at 3:30 p.m. at the George Wittich Funeral Home. Rev. James Engel will officiate and burial will be in the Island cemetery.
