Nichols – Mrs. Amanda Mahurin, 85, died Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Criss Hanson, at Nichols, of old age and complications.
Mrs. Mahurin was born, Aug. 3, 1853, at Stillwater, N. Y. the daughter of George and Eliza Bookman. She was married to Lyman Codner, Oct. 15, 1870, and five children were born to the union, three of whom survive.
Following the death of her husband, she was married to Steve Mahurin on April 20, 1927, at Graceville, Idaho. Mrs. Mahurin has made her home with her daughter in Nichols since the death of Mr. Mahurin. She was a member of the Nichols Christian church and of Rebekah lodge No. 200 at Humboldt, Ia.
Surviving are two daughters, Lydia Wightman of Appleton, Ia., and Rhoda Hanson of Nichols, one son, Joe Codner of Eldora, Ia., one granddaughter, five grandsons and eight great grandchildren. A daughter, Iva Porter, and a son, George, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Nichols Christian church with the Rev. Mina Hagis, pastor, in charge. The Nichols Odd Fellows and Rebekah lodges will be in charge of services at the grave in the Nichols cemetery.
