Porter P. Black, 72, died Sunday at his home in West Liberty following a heart attack. A longtime resident of the West Liberty area, he was a prominent raiser of purebred poultry.

Mr. Black was born May 1, 1886, at Washington, a son of George R. and Rachael V. Black. He was a graduate of the West Liberty high school and received a degree in law from the University of Iowa in 1910.

He was a salesman for farm implement and machinery companies for 37 years.

He was married to the former Helen Williamson, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Black was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Masonic lodge.

Survivors include a son, Robert, West Liberty, and two daughters, Barbara, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Betty Hagenson, of Eagle Grove, as well as three grandchildren. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were Wednesday at the Presbyterian church with the Rev. Denley Ganfield officiating. Burial was in Oakridge cemetery.
