Mrs. Smith, 80, of West Liberty Called in Death

West Liberty – Mrs. Barbara Smith, 80, died Friday night at the home of her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smith, who reside on a farm south of West Liberty, where she has made her home for the past 15 years.
She was the daughter of James and Margaret McMichael and was born on a farm in Lake township in June, 1864. Her entire life was spent in Muscatine county and in March, 1889, she married William Smith who farmed until his death in the year of 1928. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge at Nichols. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Deahr, of Muscatine, one son, Earl Smith, one sister, Mrs. Anna Brakel of Muscatine, two brothers, W. D. McMichael, Gray, Ia., and James McMichael of Muscatine, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The body is at the S. C. Snider funeral home but will be taken to the residence Sunday to remain there until rites are held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Horace Ireland of the Cedar Valley Methodist church will be in charge with burial at Oakridge cemetery.
