Former Muscatiner Buried At Nichols Today.
The funeral of Albert Pike, who died at Lone Tree on Wednesday, was held from the church in Nichols today, and interment was in the Nichols cemetery. The pallbearers were George Foster, V. Reynolds, John Nicola, Henry Rowling, Van Mills and Edward Stafford. Mr. Pike was 58 years of age at the time of his death. He had a wide acquaintance among the old soldiers, having served in the civil war when a mere lad. He formerly resided in Muscatine.

Albert A. Pike was born at Marengo, Ill., October 30, 1848, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. H. Smith, five miles northwest of Lone Tree Wednesday, April 3, 1907, at 1:50 p.m. being at the time of his death, 58 years, five months and three days.
He served as a soldier in the 15th regiment Illinois infantry, in the civil war for four years, one month and one day, and 211 days of that time he spent within the walls of Andersonville prison.
He came to Iowa in the year 1869, where he has since resided. He was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Kile, Feb. 3, 1870. To this union were born six children; Frank A., William E., and Charles L., of Nichols, Mrs. Della M. Smith of Lone Tree; Mrs. Annettie Miller of West Liberty; and Clarence who is still at home; also six grandchildren survive; Harley, Mabel and Cleo Smith; Frankie and Dalbert Pike, and Lavina Mills. All were at his death bed but Lavinia, who arrived a few minutes later. He was prepared to meet his Savior and died happy. He had been a great sufferer for years with cancer of the lip which caused his death, but he bore all his sufferings with patience.
Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his loss two half brothers, and two half sisters, Bert and Charles Easton, of Columbus, Neb., Mrs. Esthel Coney of Sharon, Wis., and Mrs. Emma Eckhardt of Leadville, Colo., and a host of other friends.
The funeral took place on Thursday, April 5th at 2:00 o’clock in the M. E. church, Nichols, Ia., conducted by the Rev. W. J. Scott, pastor of the church. Interment took place in Nichols cemetery.
