West Liberty , Ia., March 15. Wm. Chase, for almost fifty-six years a resident of West Liberty, died at his home on East Sixth street, about 11 o'clock last night at the age of 78 years. He was one of the most prominent and highly respected residents of this place. He was born in Washington county, New York, in April 1826, and came to Muscatine county in 1848, where he has resided ever since. A wife and four children mourn his demise. The children are Mrs. Mary Gregg, of Des Moines; Miss Jessie Chase, of this city; Henry Chase, who lives in Nebraska, and Thomas Chase, who lives in Kansas. Two brothers, George and Thomas, reside in this city. No arrangements for the funeral will be made until the relatives have been heard from. --Muscatine Journal.
