Mrs. Mary Connell, 70, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Dean at West Branch, at 7:15 Sunday morning. Mrs. Connell had been ailing for about a year and recently suffered a paralytic stroke.

Mrs. Connell was born in Ohio, April 28, 1857. She came to Muscatine when she was 17 months old and had made her home here since that time with the exception of the past four months which were spent at West Branch. She married Cornelius Connell July 21, 1875. She was the daughter of Kate and Frank Moran. Mrs. Connell was a member of St. Mathias church and received her education in St. Mathias school.

Surviving are her husband and seven children, five daughters Mrs. Anna Dean of West Branch, Mrs. Margaret Collins of Muscatine, Mrs. Catherine McGee of Davenport, Mrs. Clara Bloomer of Davenport, Mrs. Alice Mathis of Muscatine; two sons, Edward R. Connell of Detroit, and John W. Connell of Dubuque; two brothers, Fred and Arthur, both of Omaha; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Noonan of Sioux City, and Mrs. Louise Lange of Omaha; 19 grandchildren.

The body was taken to Muscatine to the Mathis home, 512 West Seventh street, and funeral services were conducted at the St. Mathias church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock by the Rev. Father W. L. Hannon. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.
