PETER DELBERT ELLIS

WILTON – Peter Delbert Ellis, 73, of Ellis Motel, Durant, died at 5:15 a.m. today at Davenport Osteopathic Hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Gill Memorial Home, Wilton. Rev. G. W. Ukena will officiate. Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery, Wilton. Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Saturday.
Peter Ellis was born Aug. 31, 1901 in Latham, Ill., the son of John and Nellie (Hitchell) Ellis.
He married Ethel Chown on Feb. 2, 1924 in Wapello. Mr. Ellis was a member of Wilton American Legion Post No. 584, and had been the owner and operator of the Ellis Motel in Durant. He resided in Durant 22 years, formerly residing at Wilton for 25 years.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel; one daughter, Mrs. Norma Johnson, Wilton; one brother, John (Jack) Ellis, Tucson, Ariz.; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
