Funeral of M. Flannery

Is Laid to Rest at 9 O’clock Today in Catholic Cemetery

At 9 o’clock this morning was held the funeral of Michael Flannery from St. Matthias church, Rev. Father Kunkel, pastor of the church, and Father Kunkel, pastor of the church, and Father Ryan, of Davenport, conducting the services.

The church was almost filled to its full capacity and the solemn services were listened to attentively. Father Kunkel celebrated the mass with the usual Catholic funeral services, after which Father Ryan spoke of the life of the deceased. He said that few men had traveled so extensively as Mr. Flannery, and few men had led a life more worthy of commendation. The deceased had in fact seen nearly every part of Europe and the Orient and the medals won by him in the English service speak highly of the man’s character and bravery. The services were indeed impressive and after listening to the remarks of Father Ryan, every one felt that a most honorable citizen had been called to the great hereafter.

After the services the remains were conveyed to the Catholic cemetery where they were appropriately interred.

The pall bearers were: Frank Cullen, Patrick Rabbit, John Fogarty, John Redington, Bryan Conner and Michael O’Melia.
