Minnie May Moyer was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Moyer and was born near Conesville, Ia., July 10, 1865 and died June 14, 1909, age 43 years, 11 Months and 4 days. On February 24, 1887, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Messick and to this union were born five children, three of whom preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, two daughters, Velma Gladys and Sylvia Leota, her mother, Mrs. Moyer, one sister, Miss Leona and six brothers, Melvin, Dean, Leonard, albert, Guy and Cleveland, and a host of relatives and friends. A funeral service was held at her home in Kansas City, Tuesday afternoon, by the pastor of the Christian church who preached an excellent sermon, after which the husband and daughters accompanied the remains to the depot and started for Conesville arriving here on the early train Wednesday morning. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the M. E. church conducted by Rev. E. E. Fitzsimmons and interment made in the Conesville cemetery by the side of her father, brother Lilburn and sister Mattie. The pall bearers were Fred Coffin, Allen McCurdy, L. D. Miller, T. J. Wheir, Thos. Maxwell and Sam McCullough. The floral offerings were beautiful and many, among them being a large white wreath from the iron workers of Kansas City, of which Mr. Messick is a member, a wreath of white roses from Albert Moyer, a bunch of white carnations from the Royal Neighbors of Nichols and one long bouquet of carnations from the Young People’s Union of the Baptist church of Kansas City besides many others which were given by friends. The royal Neighbors’ lodge of Nichols attended the funeral in a body.
