Richard L. “Dick” Criger, 68, of 2222 First Ave. NE. died of cancer Sunday, April 16. 1995, in his home. His body was cremated. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are with Kuba Funeral Home East.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two sons, Steve and Dan, both of Norwalk; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lonnie Henderson of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Cecil of San Jose, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was born July 20, 1926, in Muscatine, the son of Louis and Viola Criger. He started in barbering in 1947 and had been at the 415 Third St. SE location since 1972. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Elks Lodge 151, VFW Post 788 and Hanford Post 5 of the American Legion.
Dick, the owner of Dick and John’s barbershop, served this community for nearly five decades. He will be sorely missed by hundreds of customers and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, memorials may be made to Hospice of Mercy, 701 19th St. SE.
