Obituary ~ Trudis (Hilton) Adams
September 03, 1916 ~ May 29, 1998

Trudis Hilton Adams, the daughter of W. E. Hilton and Sophia (Weikert) Hilton was born September 3, 1916 at Muscatine, Iowa, and died at Lamoni Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lamoni, Iowa, on May 29, 1998, at the age of 81.

Trudis attended Muscatine public schools and was awarded the Palmer Penmanship writing certificate in elementary school. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1935 and then worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.

On December 25, 1938, she was married to Carroll M. Adams in Muscatine, Iowa. The couple had four children. After their marriage they lived on farms in Exria, Jamaica, Perry and Kellerton, all in Iowa, before retiring in Ellston, Iowa. Carroll died in 1976.

She especially loved her family, music and flowers. She enjoyed gardening, playing the piano and making pies. During her marriage the couple belonged to a card club and she belonged to a ladies society.

Survivors include her children, Sandra Spahr and husband Mike of Harpster, OH; John W. Adams and wife Shirley of White Plains, NY; James Adams and wife Donna of Lamoni, IA; David Adams and wife Melissa of Kellerton, IA; also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her sister Eunice Tobias of Muscatine, IA; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, IA on June 2, 1998. Officiating was John Pommer.

Casketbearers were John W. Adams, John Adams, James Adams, Cemeron Adams, Dave Adams, and Geral Froehle. A memorial has been established to The Iowa School of the Deaf.
