J. SCHAAPVELD LAID TO REST

Mr. John Schaapveld, whose death and burial have been briefly reported herein, was 67 years of age, when he passed away in an Iowa City hospital. He could not survive, despite an operation.
Pneumonia was the cause of death.
He was taken to Lone Tree, his home town, and there laid to rest. Surviving are four of his seven children, Mesdames Charles Zilver, formerly of Iowa City; Homer Flake, and Elizabeth Fernstrom, all of Lone Tree; and Henry Schaapveld, of Becker, Minn. His sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Guerink, of Davenport, also survives.
Coincidentally, his wife, formerly Augusta Range, whom he married in 1881, died just 20 years years, to the day, before her husband, after an illness of the same type, and for the same number of days.
The Fremont township man was a worthy farmer and citizen.
Note: 1855 - 1922 - St. Mary's Cemetery, Nichols.
