West Liberty, Iowa – Melinda Lee Maas, 16, died Friday, May 2, 2003, following a two-vehicle accident near Moscow which also claimed the life of her boyfriend, Ryan Bradley, of Wilton.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the West Liberty United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Friends may call Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the West Liberty united Methodist Church, 113 East Fifth Street. A memorial fund has been established. The Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty was in charge of arrangements.

She was born July 3, 1996, in Iowa City, the daughter of Tom and Marla (Windus) Maas. She was a junior at West Liberty High School where she was an honor student. Melinda was active in softball, chorus, 4-H and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She enjoyed her family’s annual fishing trip and the fishing contests, horses, being in the country, playing pool and the Muscatine County Fair. She was a member of the Cedar Valley United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.

Survivors include her parents, Thomas and Marla Maas of West Liberty; two sisters and brother, Jennifer, Austin and Makenzie; and grandparents, Delores Windus of West Liberty, Don Maas of Nichols and Pat Dillard of Overton, Texas. Great-grandmother, Pearl Walker of Marion; a special friend, Maria Montagna; future brother-in-law, Matt Driscoll; and aunts, uncles and several cousins also survive her. Her grandfather, Keith Windus, and a cousin, Mitch Parizek, preceded her in death.
