George W. Morrison, 88, of Wilton, died Sunday, March 8, 1992, at the Bethesda Care Center in Muscatine.

Mr. Morrison was born Feb. 22, 1904, in Cedar County, a son of Charles and Julia Crees Morrison. On Dec. 24, 1928, he married Gladys B. Schafnit in Wilton.

He worked as custodian in the Atalissa School System, the Atalissa Post Office and had farmed in the Atalissa area. He enjoyed woodcarving.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; one son, Richard of Wilton; four daughters, Mrs. Don (Shirley) Freeman of Waverly, Doris Yerington of Muscatine, Mrs. Jerry (Janice) Schneckloth of Wilton and Mrs. Floyd (Marilyn) James of Cedar Falls’ 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Agnes Rebal of Florida.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 10 at the Lacock Funeral Home in Wilton. The Rev. Paul Pennington officiated. Diana Gradert was the organist and Ron Schafnit, vocalist. Pallbearers were Michael Morrison, Craig Freeman, Eric Yerington, Steve Freeman, Scott Freeman, Bruce James and Brian Yerington. Burial was at the North Prairie Cemetery at West Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one sister and six brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Bethesda Care Center.
