Funeral Rites for James D. Porter Being Conducted

Nichols — Funeral rites were held at.3 p. m. today at the Methodist church here for James. D, Porter, whose death occurred Monday at his home east of here. The service was in charge of the Rev. Mr. Kellogg of North Liberty with burial in the Nichols cemetery.
James D. Porter was born Sept. 24, 1874, at Alton, Mo., and died at his home east of Nichols, April 15, at the age of 65 years, six months and 21 days.
He was united in marriage on July 4, 1905, to Lillie Hill of Conesville.
To this union one son, William, was born. His first wife preceded him in death on March 9,1918. He was united in marriage to Lottie Ulch on April 12, 1922, at Muscatine.
To this union seven children were born. Mr. Porter united with the Methodist church in Nichols on Dec. 12, 1937. He had lived on the farm all of his life, moving with his family from Conesville to a farm east of Nichols in 1928.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Lottie Porter, five sons, William, Raymond, Ronald, Warren and James, three daughters, Mary Jane; Jean and Helen, and one stepson, Lee, and one step-grandson, Larry Ulch, one half-sister, Delia Flake of Muscatine, two step-brothers and two step-sisters.
