SARASOTA, FL - Richard H. Wolters, 73, of Sarasota, FL died Thursday, October 5, 2000. His body was cremated.

A memorial mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at the Church of the Incarnation Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1750 17th Street, Suite A, Sarasota, FL 34234.

Mr. Wolters was born on November 23, 1926, the son of Bernard A. and Antoinette E. (Ruess) Wolters in Malmo, NE. He married Delores A. Sinn on September 4, 1948 in Williamsburg, IA.

He retired in 1982 as a civil engineer from the Department of the Army. He played the trumpet in the National Concert Band and other dance bands.

He graduated from West Liberty High School, the University of Iowa in 1946, and attended Rutgers University.

Survivors include his wife, Delores; a daughter, Beth Hecimovitch of Charlotte, NC; a son, LTC John B. Wolters of San Antonio, TX, five grandchildren; Caroline and John B (Jack) Wolters II, Megan, Erin, and John Ryan Hecimovitch, and two sisters, Margaret (Tom) Wenger of Muscatine, IA, and Geraldine (Bob) Kaalberg of West Liberty, IA.

His parents and a brother, George Wolters (2000), preceded him in death.
