MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Memorial services for Carol V. Sywassink, of 3440 Mulberry Ave., will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Muscatine. Private burial will be before the services. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine. Mrs. Sywassink died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Unity Hospital. Carol Vanden Berg was born Feb. 16, 1904, in Cawker City, Kan. She married Dr. G.A. Sywassink in 1926 in Newton. He died in 1962. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Health Education Loan Fund at the Unity Hospital Auxiliary (formerly known as the Muscatine General Hospital Auxiliary). Survivors include daughters, Carol Gatzke, Muscatine, Joan McKay, Davenport, and Janet Witte, Rockville, Md.; and a son, G.A. Jr., Charlotte, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
