NEW LIBERTY, Iowa -- Marvin P.H. 'Jack' Steinhagen, 87, New Liberty, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center East Campus, Davenport.

Service at Risen Christ Lutheran Church, Davenport. The Rev. Kurt Larson will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by vocalist Henry Bentley. Pallbearers are Mark Weih, Dan Holst, Brian Stegen, Matthew Weih, Jim Geigle, Jeff Burkey, Kurt Flathers, David Paustian, Lon Butterbrodt and K.C. Lingold. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport.

Visitations at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant.

Mr. Steinhagen was born on July 2, 1915, in Eldridge, the son of Otto and Catherine Martinsen Steinhagen. He married Leona Lafrenz on Nov. 29, 1939, in Marengo.

He farmed his entire life in Scott and Cedar counties, retiring in 1979. He worked at Bennett Ford for 18 years, retiring in 1982. He was also employed by the New Liberty Sale Barn for many years.

He was a member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church. He enjoyed visiting with all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed growing flowers, especially cactus and Voodoo lillies.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Edythe Weih and husband Dennis of Wilton, Anita Holst of Bettendorf and Kathryn Stegen and husband William of Arvada, Colo.; two sons, Marvin Steinhagen of Davenport and Leon Steinhagen of New Liberty; a sister, Ruth Thode of Davenport; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Krebs and Lois Thode; three brothers, Arnold Steinhagen, Elmer Steinhagen and Elvin Steinhagen; a son-in-law, Bill Holst; and a granddaughter.
