WAPELLO, Iowa - Charles Harold "Chuck" Kronfeldt, 49, of rural Wapello, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at his home following a brief illness.

The family is planning a fellowship luncheon at his home for family and close friends. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Mississippi Regional Valley Blood Bank.

The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello is providing the care and cremation arrangements. Mr. Kronfeldt was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Dubuque, the son of Donald Joseph and Norma Louise Smith Kronfeldt. He married Karen Christine Lance on Nov. 15, 1975, in Eliza, Ill. His early years were spent in Dubuque and he later attended schools in Muscatine. He worked for Butch Lee in Muscatine for several years and for Grain Processing for 10 years. He attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and received the Robert Klaes Award. He was currently serving as Chief of Police for Oakville, and also working for his brother's business, Professional Communications of Davenport. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors, and being at home with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; a son, Donald G. Kronfeldt and his wife, Kerri, of Oakville; his father, Donald J. Kronfeldt of Muscatine; his mother, Norma L. Smith of Muscatine; and three brothers, Dave Shuckert of Muscatine, Terry Kronfeldt of Davenport, and Keith Kronfeldt of Hurst, Texas.
