Martha E. Colburn, 88, of Ruthven, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in Marshalltown.

Services will be at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven. Pallbearers will be Stephen Colburn, Craig Colburn, Keith Colburn, Brian Colburn, Troy Gardner, and T.H. Cook.

She was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Washburn, Wis., the daughter of Ole and Minnie Erickson Aune. She married Rollin E. Colburn on June 13, 1937, in Duluth, Minn.

She taught school in Palo Alto Rainbow school for many years. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ruthven and Spencer.

She did a lot of volunteer work at area Nursing Homes.

She attended high school in Duluth, Minn. and the University of Minnesota in Duluth, Minn. where she received a teaching degree. Survivors include four children, Geraldine Walker of Albion, Richard Colburn of Dayton, Minn., Allen Colburn of New Windsor, Md., and Bruce Colburn of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters; and a brother, Edward Aune. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Einer and William Aune; sisters, Camille Lutzka, Anne Schiesser and Eleanore Wollerman Wehler.
