NEW BOSTON, Ill.
Emery V. Ayers, 83, of New Boston died Wednesday Nov. 8, at his home.

Services will be at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo, Ill. Burial is at the Viola Cemetery. The Rev. John Mattingly will officiate.

Mr. Ayers was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Mercer County, the son of Emmett and Mary Cook Ayers. He received his education from the Gilchrist School and attended Viola High School. He married Lulu L. Murphy on June, 20,1936, in Aledo.

He was a member of and worked for 50 years out of the Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 537 (now 150) in Rock Island, Ill. He owned his own Construction Company in New Boston and he enjoyed traveling and four wheeling.

Survivors include his wife, Lulu; a son and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Terry Ayers of New Boston; a daughter, Sharon Thompson of Oquawka; four grandchildren, Kim Roberts of Muscatine, Doug Ayers of New Boston; Chantel Squier of Carpentersville, Ill. and Stacla Tax of Carbondale; three great-grandchildren Lucas Long and Karli Roberts both of Muscatine and Jordan Ayers of New Boston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
