NAPLES, Fla.
Robert Bernard Jehring, 80, of Naples, formerly of Muscatine, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at his home.

Services will be at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Naples.

Graveside services will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rev. John P. Gallagher will officate with a Military Service provided by the V.F.W.

Visitation will be at the Fuller Funeral home in Naples. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Naples, or to St. Peter the Apostle Apostolic Life Center Building Fund Naples.

He was born March 20, 1920, in Muscatine, the son of George Louis and Etta Marie Washburn Jehring. He married Helen June Larsen on Oct. 26, 1947, in a log chapel on the campus of Notre Dame.

He graduated with a bachelor's of science in commerce from Notre Dame. He attended 2 years of his graduate law studies at Georgetown.

He served as FBI office personnel directly reporting to J. Edgar Hoover. He became a full agent and served in the New Orleans and Miami areas.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was commissioned to a naval command ship in the South Pacific, as a USN lieutenant JG.

After the war he graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's of law. He returned to Muscatine to practice law above his parent's 'Red Paint Store'.

He was a member of St. Mathias Church, Knights of Columbus, Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary International.

He continued making contributions in Naples. He remained an active legal presence at the Collier County Courthouse, a leader in local commerce and fellowship with the Rotary International. He was a member of the Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Jehring; seven sons, Frederick, George, Patrick, Thomas, Robert, John, Stephen, and Joseph Jehring; and 16 grandchildren.
