RIVERSIDE, Iowa
Paul R. Armbruster, 84, Riverside, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at his home after a short illness.

Services are at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Riverside. The Rev. Rich Adam will officiate. Casket bearers are Tony Malchodi, Dillion Armbruster, Derek Shalla, Matt Day, Andrew Orszula and Andy Armbruster. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Riverside, with military rights conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6414. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center.

Visitation is at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home, Riverside. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home for the Riverside Fire and Rescue.

Mr. Armbruster was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Riverside, the son of Frank and Mary Bopp Armbruster. He married Lois Strabala on Oct. 3, 1945, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Richmond.

He was a farmer in the Riverside area his entire life.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, mowing with his John Deere Tractor, hunting and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Armbruster of Riverside; three sons, Philip Armbruster of Riverside, Jeff Armbruster and wife, Jackie, of Riverside, and John Armbruster and wife, Cindy, of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Pauline Malchodi and husband, Tom, of Coal Valley, Ill., Patricia Armbruster and Connie Armbruster, both of Iowa City; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Shalla and husband, Dallas, of Washington; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Martin; and seven brothers, Leonard, Claude, Francis, Bernard, Leo, Richard and Gerald.
