DAVENPORT, Iowa - Alma Ruth Jansen, 82, Davenport, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine.

Services are at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitations are today, with a 4 p.m. prayer service, at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, and 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Our Lady of Victory.

She was born July 15, 1922, in Potomac, Ill., the daughter of Herbert and Frieda Shields Creighton. She married Leonard P. Jansen Nov. 14, 1942, in Durham, N.C. He preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1990. She retired in 1984 after 20 years of service as a switchboard operator for the former Davenport Osteopathic Hospital. Her memberships included Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Organ Club and CASI. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Arthur L. Jansen and wife Judy of Davenport; two daughters, Gloria J. Stock and husband Ronald of Davenport and Barbara A. Hansen of Wilton; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Roenfeldt of Davenport and Dorothy McCroskey and husband George of Maryville, Tenn.; a brother, John Creighton and wife Marilyn of Davenport; a sister-in-law, Lucille Steffen of Dubuque; and numerous nieces and nephews.
