ALEDO, Ill. - Ethel M. Haney, 90, of Aledo, Ill., died Thursday, Nov. 4,1999, at her home. Services will be at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. The Revs. Ronald Taylor of the Antioch Baptist Church and the Brent K. Phillips of the Aledo United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at the Aledo cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church in Marston, Ill. or the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Haney was born on Feb. 6, 1909, in Eliza, Ill., the daughter of Henry Selby and Hulda Nathalia Monson Beeney. She married Ernest Garber Haney Oct. 17, 1929. They moved to Marston, where they owned and operated Haney's Garage and Grocery until retiring in 1971. He died Oct. 5, 1986. She moved to Aledo in September of 1993. She was a member of the Mercer County Hospital Auxiliary, a 50 year member of the Buffalo Prairie Order of the Eastern Star, Antioch Baptist Mission Circle, AARP, and the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center. She received her education from the Eliza schools. She moved to Reynolds in 1925 and then to Rock Island in 1926 where she was employed at Schultz United. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Beverly Haney of Aledo; a daughter and son-in-law, Neta and Stephen Tagge of Springfield, Ill., five grandchildren, Debbie Toops and her husband, Garry, and Cheri Bloomfield and her husband, Dale, of Aledo, Kathy Haney of Bloomington, Ill., David Tagge of Houston, Texas and Natalie Tagge of Springfield, Ill.; five great-granchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
