MUSCATINE, Iowa - Marie D. Franklin, 87, of Muscatine, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Unity Hospital.

Funeral Service will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser Street. Reverend Michael Spangler of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.

Marie was born on June 22, 1917, in Muscatine County, the daughter of Edward G. and Henrietta M. Wunder Plett. She married Vernon R. Franklin on June 12, 1949, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1999.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and the First Presbyterian Women's Club.

She worked at H.J. Heinz Company for 40 years.

Survivors include one step-daughter, Dianna Preston of Pierce City, Missouri; five step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two cousins and a special nephew and niece, Marvin and Nancy Franklin of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, two brothers.
