WAPELLO - Billy C. Foor, 76, of Wapello, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at his home following an extended illness. Services will be at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. The Revs. Mary N. Pugh and Julie Wehner will officiate. Burial will be at the Wapello Cemetery with military rites by the Wapello VFW Glenn Allen Post 5166. Pallbearers will be Bill Aspelmeier, Bob Pogemiller, Larry Miller, Mark McCulley, Larry Malcom, and Jim Earnest. Honorary bearers will be Bob Schwob, Ralph Peters, Oren Hininger, Kenny Moyers, and Kent Johnson. Flowers will be cared for by Rosemary Schwob and Denise McCulley. Organist will be Bev Parsons.
Memorials may be made for the benefit of the Wapello Rescue Unit and the Wapello Community Ambulance Service.Mr. Foor was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Wapello. He married Lois P. Strawhacker on Nov. 27, 1945, in Wapello.
He graduated from Wapello High School in 1941. He served in the Army during World War II in The European Theater and received the Silver Star.He was an ironworker working through and as a member of the Ironworkers Union Local 111 in Rock Island, Ill., for about 45 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wapello, the Illinois Harness Racing Association and the American Legion of Columbus Junction. He was a lifetime supporter of all the Wapello athletics and enjoyed fishing and horse racing.Survivors include his wife, Lois; two sons, Kenny and Dave Foor, both of Wapello; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and five brothers.
