TIPTON, Iowa - Genevieve Armstrong Achey, 94, of Tipton, died Friday, July 7, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a lingering illness.

Burial will be at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery in Tipton. The Rev. Richard Smith will officiate. Pall bearers will be Babe Osborn, Johnny Achey, Shannon Osborn, Mike Meeker, Randy Wilke, and Dave Meeker.

She was born Aug. 12, 1905, in Cedar County, the daughter of Ed and Jennie Lahmon Armstrong. She married John Franklin Achey on Aug. 26, 1926, in Davenport.

She was a homemaker. She graduated from Tipton High School and attended one year at Tipton Junior College. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau and Mount Zion Guild.

Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Meeker of Lander, Wyo. and Sharon Osborn and her husband, Gerry, of Tipton; a son, John E. Achey and his wife, Karen, of Tipton; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Ralph Wilke of Tipton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Jennie Lahmon Armstrong; her husband, John Achey in 1991; a daughter, Luva Jean Wilke in 1985; brothers, Don, Bert, Bob, Ray Armstrong; an infant son; two sisters, Pearl Frederick and Lulu Keller.
