MARIAN BABBITT
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Marian L. Babbitt, 86, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at Lutheran Homes.
Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Mary Church, 417 Green Street. Father Troy Richmond will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Robert Babbitt Jr., Scott McDaniel, Aaron Salek and Cory Freitag. Burial will be in Conesville Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held at Gannon Hall following the committal service.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. with a Rosary Prayer Service at 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Homes.
Marian was born on April 29, 1919, in Muscatine, the daughter of William and Elsie Vetter Schrempf. She married Freeland E. Babbitt on May 23, 1940, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on September 29, 1986.
Marian worked for McKee Button Company and the Weber Button Company
She was a member St. Mary Church.
Survivors include one son, Robert G. Babbitt and wife, Audrey, of Muscatine; one daughter, Joyce A. Augustine and husband, Brad, of Lake View, Oregon; three grandchildren, David Thede, Renee Nellis and husband, Ken, and Robert Babbitt Jr.; and three great-grandchildren, Austen Thede, Kaylynn Nellis and Kelsey Nellis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter, Kristin Beth Thede, and one sister, Gertrude Salek.
