MUSCATINE, Iowa - Melba I. Wiegand, 67, of Muscatine, died Monday, November 3, 2008, at Carrington Place.

Graveside Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2008, at Greenwood Cemetery.

The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the family in care of Jacqueline Ramsdell.

Melba was born on March 12, 1941, in Iowa City, the daughter of Leo and Milda Fail Knight. She married Darrell Dennis Wiegand and they later divorced. She was a companion of 30 years of Vernon Gonzalez who died in 2005.

She loved antique shows and flea markets.

Survivors include her sons, Darrell Dennis Wiegand Jr. of Davenport, Bradley Allen Wiegand of Colorado, and Russell Leroy Wiegand of Davenport; one daughter, Laurie Howard of Davenport; several grandchildren; five brothers, Everett Knight of Muscatine, Richard Knight of Arizona, Melvin Knight of Muscatine, George Knight of Muscatine, and Stephan Knight of Muscatine; and three sisters, Jacqueline Ramsdell of Muscatine, Janet Jones of Dixon, and Audrey Hayes of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Leo, and one sister, Josephine Ellison.
