MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Elmer 'Bud' Truitt Jr., 79, Muscatine, died Monday, July 4, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Lloyd Mansfield will officiate the services. Casket bearers are Steven Truitt, Larry Truitt, Timothy Truitt, Steven Truitt Jr., Alex Gries and Roman Truitt. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Truitt was born July 9, 1925, in Muscatine, the son of Elmer E. and Gladys Z. Barton Truitt. He married Annabelle Ackman Jan. 20, 1945, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death March 8, 2002.

He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943-44.

He was employed at HON for 31 years.

He enjoyed blue grass music, camping, playing pool, hunting and watching wrestling with his grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Steven Truitt and wife, Terri, Larry Truitt and wife, Lisa, and Timothy Truitt, all of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Steven Truitt Jr., Tristan Gries, Miranda Truitt, Alex Gries, Quinten Truitt and Roman Truitt; and a half-brother, Darrell Wiegand and wife, Phyllis, of Walcott.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Velma Sietz; and two half-brothers, Charles Wiegand and Ellis Wiegand.
