Frank Fischer, 85, a resident of Muscatine for 65 years, died Monday, at 2:34 pm in his home, 1102 Isett Avenue, of complications following a lingering illness.He was born Jan 11, 1856, in Iowa City, Ia, the son of Fredrick Fischer and Christina Denkelmann Fischer, coming to Muscatine from Iowa City in 1876. He married twice, on Oct. 6, 1879 in Iowa City to Elizabeth Michel, who died Feb. 16, 1898, and a second time on Dec. 28, 1899 to Mary Michel, at Muscatine. Mr. Fischer was a machinist by trade, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife: three sons, William, Carl and Harold, all of Davenport; one brother, Albert Fischer, of Long Beach, Calif; three sisters, Mary Dawson, Bellingham, Wash; Emma Forsythe, Long Beach, Calif; and Kate Geiger, Fairmont, Minn; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. One son died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 am from the Hoffman Funeral Church, with Rev. Julius F. Holm, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in charge. Burial will be in Stanislaus Cemetery near Hills, Ia. The Hoffman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
