MUSCATINE, Iowa — Rocky S. Darting, 51, of Muscatine, died Thursday, January 8, 2009, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Funeral Service will be Monday, January 12, 2009, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Reverend Doresa Collogan will officiate. Casketbearers will be Brian Burns, Dave O’Brien, Daryl O’Brien and Richard Wollrab. Private graveside services will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Musserville United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the funeral home A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.

Rocky was born on December 30, 1957, in Muscatine, the son of Gaylie Dusenberry Darting Doerres. He married Denise Rogers on August 27, 1977, in Muscatine.

He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1977.

He and his wife had owned and operated Creative Catering for 10 years.

He was a member of the Musserville United Methodist Church. He loved to cook, play cards, collect antiques, Christmas time, traveling to Ireland and playing with his dog, Bridget.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Denise Darting of Muscatine; his mother, Gaylie Doerres and her husband, Robert “Scooter” of Muscatine; two brothers, Robert Doerres Jr. and Linda Hartley of Muscatine and Byan Doerres and Sherry Peterson of Muscatine; his mother- in-law, Norma Rogers, of Muscatine; a sister-in-law, Lynnette Burns and her husband, Brian, of Muscatine and two nieces, Valerie and Stephanie Burns of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Hazel Dusenberry; his favorite aunt, Ida Mae Lester, and father-in-law, David B. Rogers.
No relation but a good friend.
