LAVAUN J. "SONNY" LARUE
LAS VEGAS, Nevada - LaVaun J. "Sonny" LaRue, 74, Las Vegas, Nevada, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005.
Memorial Gathering will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005, at the Moose Lodge, with a luncheon. Burial will be at a later date in Bethel Cemetery.

LaVaun "Sonny" was born on July 21, 1930, in Muscatine, the son of Arthur and Verda Cochran LaRue. He married Beverly Wimberly on November 8, 1952, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. They were later divorced in 1980.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, completing two tours of duty and continued a lifetime of service to his country with the US Army Reserves until retirement.

He also enjoyed coaching Little League baseball.

Survivors include three sons, Gene LaRue and wife, Patty, Gregg LaRue and wife, Deb, and Kenny LaRue and wife, Dana, all of Muscatine; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon LaRue of Muscatine; and four sisters, Lillian McCormick, Leona Maylone, Phyllis Thompson, and Sharon Jones, all of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one brother, William LaRue and three sisters, Shirley Otto, Virginia Cushman, and Norma Jarr.
