GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Oral R. Fry, 71, Grand Junction, formally of Davenport, Iowa, and born in Grandview, Iowa, lost his three-year long battle with colon cancer and peacefully passed away Monday Dec. 8, 2008, at the Grand Junction Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Western Colorado.

Mr. Fry was born Aug. 25 1936, the son of Ralph and Frances (McGill) Fry, in Grandview.

He served four years in the United States Air Force from 1951-56 and was the father six children. He drove a semi for many companies here in Eastern Iowa as well as picked up milk for Marion Lively with Swiss Valley and was a delivery driver for Oscar Mayer Inc. In the early 1970’s he moved to the Denver, Colo., area where he drove semi for many different companies including Roadway.

He met and married Dorothy Myers of Denver and was married 32 + years. They moved to Grand Junction in 1999 where he worked a short time for New Quest Pharmacy.

He liked to elk hunt, bowl, and play cards and tinker with his yard but his true passion was to play with and rebuild tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; his children, Frances Graham and husband, Scott, Davenport, Debbie Fry and husband, David, Muscatine, Randy Fry and Larry Fry, both of Cedar Rapids. step children ,Kelly, Rick and Kipp Myers, all of Colorado; his sisters, Gwendolyn Carter of Davenport, Luella Chatterton and husband, Dale of Grandview and Kenneth Fry of Grandview Iowa. He was a grandfather for 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and many many nieces, nephews and cousins locally and throughout the United States.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas, daughter, Jaqueline Massey; a son, Eugene Fry and stepdaughters, Robin Myers, Kristi Myers as well as several grandchildren.
