PIONEER LOCAL RESIDENT DEAD

PHIL KING DIES AT HOME IN CASS COUNTY YESTERDAY

Had Been a Resident Of Muscatine For Thirty Years, and of Louisa County For 63 Years

Phil King, a pioneer resident of Muscatine, passed away yesterday morning at his home in Cass County, where he had lived since March. King was 66 years of age, and had resided in this city for more than forty years. Death was due to general complication of diseases, the deceased being in poor health for the past several years, and in a critical condition for two weeks.

Phil King was born in Buffalo, New York, March 28, 1851 and came to Louisa county with his parents when but four years of age. Most of his early life was spent at Grandview, until early manhood when he came to Muscatine.

Besides his wife, Mr. King leaves to mourn his loss 4 sons; Will and George King of this city and Harry and Fred King of Rock Island, two brothers and one sister, Mrs. Mary Schreiner and Louis King of the city, and Charles King of Grandview. Two step-children also survive, Mrs. Theodore Gottbrecht and John White.

The remains were brought to Muscatine this morning at 7:30 o'clock and were removed to the home of his son George King, 917 Oregon Street. The funeral will be held from the Musserville M.E. church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. Geo. W. Barber to officiate.
