Danny Honts
Danny Honts, 72, of 1620 Hershey Ave., Muscatine died at 9:30 P.M. Thursday April 30th at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City after along illness.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Monday at the Riley Funeral home with the Rev. Lief Pohl in charge. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at the Riley Funeral Home.
A Loyal Order of Moose service will be held Sunday at 6:30 P.M. at the Riley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted jointly by the American Legion and the V.F.W.
He was born February 20, 1920 in Milton, Iowa the son of Walter and Mary Phelps Honts.
He was a resident of Muscatine since 1936 coming from Danbury, Wis. He married Lena Yedlik in 1940 in Muscatine, who preceded him in death. He later married Virginia Airhardt Jens on April 5, 1990 in Iowa City.
He was a World War II Navy veteran a 50 Year member of the Loyal Order of Moose and was also a member of the Eagles, American Legion and the Muscatine Power Boat Club. He owned and operated Danny's Sales and Service since 1958. Prior to that time he was a Muscatine ploiceman for seven years and was also formerly employed at Henderson's Garage and later by Lee Osborn.
He is survived by his wife, Viriginia, two sons, Bill Honts and Steve Honts both of Muscatine; two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Violet) Reiter, St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mrs. Steve (Janet) Forbes, Muscatine; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother Robert Honts, Muscatine; one sister, Darlene Burlingame, Kohoka, Mo. three step sons, Gary Lee Jens, Dennis Jens and Randy Jens and one step daughter Mrs. Dean (Dorothy) Schmoldt all of Muscatine. 12 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1987 and two sons
