JOHN F. LEWIS

LONE TREE - John F. Lewis, 77, of Nichols, died this morning at the Oakwood nursing home. The son of John A. and Mary Jane Essex Lewis, he was born August 18, 1889 in Muscatine county. He spent his entire life in the Nichols community.

A carpenter and a cabinet maker he was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the IOOF lodge of Nichols and the American Legion post of West Liberty.

He married Fern Evans on May 5, 1926 in Muscatine. She survives. A sister, Mary C. Dedrick of West Liberty also survives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1:30 pm at the Sorden and Adams chapel in Lone Tree with Rev. Roy Shaugnessy officiating. Interment will be at the Nichols cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sorden and Adams chapel after 1:30 Friday.
