AGED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

PIONEER RESIDENT OF CITY DIES AT HOME

Death Follows Eight Weeks' Illness - Had Resided in Muscatine More Than 50 Years

William J. Lohr, for more than a half century a resident of Muscatine, died at 4:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of his son, William P. Lohr, at 209 West Seventh street. Death followed an eight week illness, the aged man having been seriously ill for a period of three weeks. His demise was caused by complications and infirmities of old age.

The deceased was born in Blankinham, Hessen, Germany, February 19, 1837, and had been a resident of this city since 1859. Mrs. Lohr passed away March 4 last.

He was a charter member of the Mechanics' Aid society, having received a fifty-year gold medal from the organization, and was also affiliated with the Modern Woodmen of America. He was well known in this city.

The survivors are two sons, William P. and George H. Lohr of this city, one daughter, Mrs. James (Nellie) Reynolds of Denver, Colo., six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services are announced to be conducted at the W.P. Lohr residence at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The Rev. (undecipherable) will officiate. Burial will be made in the family plot at Greenwood cemetery.
