G.H. HERMANN, 85, FORMER RESIDENT HERE, SUCCUMBS

George H. Hermann, Sr., 85, a resident of Muscatine practically his entire life, died at 6:10 am today in Mercy hospital in Iowa City. Mr. Hermann had resided with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred O. Klaffenbach, 317 Church street, Iowa City for the past nine and a half years.

The son of Dietrich and Marie Hermann, he was born on Dec. 28, 1861 in Muscatine. He married Regina Marie Von Weber here and her death occurred on March 24, 1920, Muscatine. His parents, two brothers and a grandson preceded him in death.

Mr. Hermann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 58 year, of Wyoming lodge No. 76, Knights of Pythias for over 23 years and for more than 50 year of the Modern Woodmen of America. His early education was received here and he later attended Iowa Wesleyan college at Mt. Pleasant.

Survivng are six sons and two daughters, Fred W. Hermann, and George H. Hermann, Jr., both of Muscatine; Charles F. Hermann, Wilton; William C. Hermann, Pleasant Prairie; Dr. Alford H. Hermann and Dr. Weber C. Hermann, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Clara Klaffenbach, Iowa City; and Miss Edna Hermann, registered nurse at Milwaukee. Thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

The body is at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home. Funeral arrangement will be announced later.
