Nichols – Mrs. Elizabeth Applin Chown, 82, a resident of this community all her life and of Nichols for the past 50 years, died at 3 a.m., today at her home here. She had been ill for several years but in serious condition for only 10 days.
She was born on May 19, 1865, in Lake township, the daughter of Henry and Mary Myers. She was married to Lewis D. Chown on Jan. 6, 1886, and he died in 1920, Mrs. Chown was a member of the Methodist church here, of the Rebekah and Royal Neighbors lodge.
Surviving are two sons, Louis W., and Robert T. Chown, both of Nichols; one brother, Lew Myers, Nichols; seven grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband; three brothers, two sisters, one son and one grandson.
The body was taken at 2 p.m., today from Fairbanks Home for Funerals in Muscatine to the residence here. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Methodist church here by the Rev. Mr. Curtis, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Paul Textor, Letts Methodist pastor. Interment will be in the Nichols cemetery.
